For the sixth time the celebration of the Satelliet Design Challenge took place during the Horecava in de RAI Amsterdam. In the world biggest Mobile Grand Café the winners were announced on Wednesday January 13th.

The prices were presented to the designers bin Eric Roest, commercial director of Satelliet Meubelen. After the contests fifth anniversary in 2009 and additional price was awarded: Besides the realization of the concept the winner also receives a teaching trip to the leading furniture fair Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan.

The winning concept ' Spygames'  of Alice Mulders is all about mirrors, sightlines, espionage and eye contact.  Seeing and being seen makes it an exciting and sexy concept.

Second place goes to Joop Bource with the design ‘U | BAR’, where the guest are brought playfully to the back of the venue with a high level of entertainment. Desmond Ninaber van Eijben wins third place with his design ‘BARRIèRE’, furniture that enhances the human interaction in an area where many people are. 

The jury nominated 6 designs from all the submissions.  Besides the above winners the following designs were nominated:

“ We noticed that this year many participants signed up in collectives compared to 2009. We can only encourage that. It’s good to see that creative people find each other, this can certainly benefit the quality,” said the jury.

During Venuez Hospitality & Style Event on April 13th and 14th, the winning concept will be constructed full size in the Cruise Terminal Rotterdam.
